It’s great for neat freaks like me. Hi Lau, I loved your vivid review and your impressions of the p1 were quite similar to what I felt. I do it more out of habit. Rather than using the most generic of cables, Tin HiFi invested in a quality copper cable as stock. But, I’m happy to report that FiiO did a great job here with the design of the housing and indeed of the cable too. From lower to upper mids, every ounce of detail from note attack to decay is captured, with emphasis on clarity, transparency and speed, glorious speed. The single-ended 3.5mm jack, Y-split and MMCX connectors look well-built, and there’s an audible, satisfying click when connecting to the P1. Note hits are round, with adequate punch and slam in attack, before fluttering away Taylor Swiftly and leaving a trail of wind. And speaking of the cable, FiiO has done a bang-up job here. But as we’ve learnt all our lives, it’s what’s inside that counts. Not only is the FH5 FiiO’s current flagship, but it’s also what I would consider to be an honest flagship design and, to me, it sits right up there with competing products that cost many hundreds of dollars more. Overall The F9 has more balance in this area. The earpieces are hand-polished and take on a mirror finish. Being able to easily distinguish which is which is great, but FiiO took this one step further and did something similar on the actual housing of the IEMs too. It’s quite a complete set for on-the-go, although the case should really be bigger. I think this is a very power hungry IEM for it to be driven to its fullest potential (my wife has a LG smartphone I think it was the G6). Also included in the accessory set is a beautiful (but small) faux leather case, a matching copper cable and an impressive set of ear tips. It doesn’t go deep, but does great with what they have. So I got myself the EarStudio ES100. It’s the real thing with no gimmicks, and Tin HiFi proudly shows you the way to cost-effective aural bliss. The Tin P1 comes in a very cute mirrored metal shell that is very small and thin, but has a long wide nozzle. 304 is the most common type of stainless steel, and contains a bit of chromium (between 15-20%) and nickel (between 2-10.5%) as its constituents. Let me add, that all my files are replaygained, which reduces volume by ~6-10 dB(A) on modern rock/pop albums. The last bunch of silicone tips are the Bass tips, which would work to either elevate the bass region slightly, or suppress the upper registers a bit. The FiiO FH5 is a 2018 in-ear monitor flagship and have a hefty pricetag of $250. The P1 sounds underpowered from them (ie. The F9-series, on the other hand, sounded much brighter in comparison, and as a result I perceive them to sound quite artificial. . With vents at the front and back of the earpieces, P1’s isolation is predictably below average. And plenty of power. When all is said and done, despite those sonic flaws, I still think FiiO did a reasonably good job here, and if you prefer a darker signature, then the FH5 could very well work out quite well for you. Input your search keywords and press Enter. Notice the price jump. You don’t really pick up on this in the first few minutes, but after a while the incredibly unergonomic shape of the Dunu just makes it impossible for me to wear for any length of time of more than about 45 minutes or so. The mids sound similar, both are airy and stonkingly detailed, but FH5 has the edge in realism and timbre. A budget in-ear monitor (IEM) from China is nothing new. The first difference we can see is a bass boost for the FH5 in the sub-bass area, and it continues to have elevated levels all the way up to the 1kHz mark. adding a bit of bass and even a bit of upper-mid and treble. There have been a few stabs at planar magnetic driver IEMs too, but at predictably higher asking prices, like the $599 Audeze iSine 20 or the $999 Unique Melody ME1. This is the treble you’ve been waiting for, not just at $169, but at any price. TIp: The EarStudio app lets you store up to 4 custom EQ settings, one for each of your favorite IEMs. But then again, Fiio’s offerings also don’t play within those price-brackets. I didn’t get nearly as much sound isolation from the FH5. So yeah, I’d say the build quality should be good. It has a decent extension but doesn’t provide the visceral quality like good bass drivers can. Lows. One major advantage of the FH5 is how power efficient it is. One of the most common criticisms of FiiO’s M7 portable player is that the 40mW of available power is quite low, especially when considering more power-hungry headphones or IEMs like the 50-ohm Pinnacle P1. Moving on towards the midrange, here we again see a similar character, although the F9 carries this region over a slightly wider range in the vocal department before it drops off again.Other differences are seen between about 3kHz and 6Khz, with the F9 portraying a bit more presence here which we can hear in how male vocals are presented. 3Stars from me! Read More » Tin HiFi T1 Plus: Unboxing . The product, along with the manufacturer’s pride, is on the display. I‘m running it – as with all my IEMs (among which are the DM6, the Tin Audio T2 pro, the Kanas Moondrop, etc.) Of course, that’s not an objective view at all, as in reality there is absolutely no direct link between product quality and the packaging quality. So, that being said, with reference to using the Spiral Dot tips on the FH5 I’d say that these tips unfortunately do more harm than good as far as the sound signature is concerned. Its like an amp, but it also pushes instrument separation, while improving treble, mids and bass quality, making everything sound much clearer and positional. On the flip side, the FH5 greatly reduces the chances of that happening, but at the same time it also means that there can be a lack of air in vocals as well as a reduction in that lovely shimmering effect of cymbals. Basically, it is sturdy and massive. I’ve ordered the P1 already, but after reading your review I feel like ordering it again . And then we get to the final 3 pairs of eartips which are made of a memory-foam type of material. But, for the FH5 that 40mW is more than enough. Triggered by a blind earphone buy that went horribly awry, I have since bought and sold my way up the ladder in relentless pursuit of the perfect chain. Critical listening was done after 50 hours of burn-in to loosen up the planar driver, but who knows? That matches the amount of bass, that a good speaker produce in a living room. FH5 though, covers the technicalities well, and surpasses the P1 in imaging precision and stage height, giving a more fish-bowl like stage presentation than P1’s flat plains. Unfortunately I think it has been discontinued but maybe you can find it on ebay. This review was such an enjoyable read! Especially the Sondstage and the Imaging are both very poor! Tin HiFi is one of the first companies to produce an easy-to-drive planar magnetic IEM for the budget-conscious, hoping to bring cutting-edge technology to the masses. It might not have the sub-bass extension that the FH5 has, but overall it has more balance and cohesion in the bass region and lower midrange. IKKO OH10. They were a tad more expensive then the Tin t2s but there was heaps of reviews on the Australian distributor's amazon stores that made me reconsider them (Ear pieces looking used, arriving damaged, red ear piece repeatedly reported to not be working etc). So you can shape the bass to your heart’s content. On the ES100, the P1 sounded loud, but tinny, and instruments were not separated as much as I liked. One of my favorite earphones of recent times has to be the P1 from Tin Hifi. Not because the soundstage is huge, but rather how tidy it keeps the stage, aided by a stable, black background. Superbly written review. When taking a step back and looking at the design of the FH5 in its entirety, I think it’s fair to say that this design seems incredibly refined in terms of the build, comfort, and aesthetics. Well, sonically it’s not perfect, but I’m quite confident in saying that it’s their best IEM to date. I have a decent home set-up, but nothing for commuting. You’ll miss the warmth. The cable has a loose, uneven and slipshod braiding, giving me the impression that someone has been slacking. Got my pair of Tin HiFi P1 today and what I can say: they indeed need a lot of power for high volumes. I hate foam tips, and the supplied silicone ones aren‘t cutting it for me. Would love to visit Austria. They have a classier, more aesthetically pleasing design. You might need a powerful audio player or an external amplifier for the P1 to sound its best. Tai Nghe Có Dây On ear . 7.7. So, for the comparisons with other IEMs, we’ll be looking at the average response of the included eartips and excluding the Spiral Dot eartips completely. Simply put, planar magnetic drivers are normally found in much more expensive, flagship-grade over-ear headphones, like the Audeze LCD series and HiFiMan, and they are notoriously hard to drive. Again, due to the shape, the finish, and the way the cable nicely balances the weight, these are IEMs that I can easily wear for long periods of time. 1more Quad Driver. Inside houses the 10mm planar driver, and the housing also uses mmcx connections. And P1, powered by its planar magnetic driver, provides a detailed, neutral signature that fits most genres. The P1 earpieces are made of food-grade 304 stainless steel, meaning they’re actually safe enough to be cutlery, for whatever reason you might want to go down that path. We thank Linsoul and Tin HiFi for this opportunity. Disclaimer: Linsoul sent the Tin HiFi P1 to me for the purposes of a review here at Headfonics. With that set-up, it works best when the EQ gain switch of the FiiO Q5 is on, and – depending on the music you‘re listening to or your taste – also with the bass boost switch on. Now, unfortunately I couldn’t do a measurement or recording of the FH1 as I only got my testing rig more recently, but for what it’s worth, the FH5 sounds rather similar to what I remember the FH1 to sound like but with perhaps an overall slightly smoother character. It doesn’t mean you can eat them. Same haha. Instead, Fiio is pretty much dominating the sub-$70 IEM market in terms of sheer value. The P1 encases a 10mm. Wow thanks, I think you know my country more than me, since I spend 99% of my time in Ipoh haha. They are just as comfortable with silicone tips too. The level of comfort and sound isolation is fantastic. As for the P1, it is every bit what you say it is…when driven sufficiently and with a bit of EQ. Is it new technology for it’s own sake or is there a technical or at least intellectual case for this approach ? Probably compareable to a Fostex T50rp headphone. However, if we look at the 8-10kHz region we can see a huge difference between the FH5 and F9. Today we look at the new bullet in Tin HiFi’s chamber, the P1. weak bass). The Boomstick alone was a better solution, but it didn’t have as much power as I’d like from a phone setup. The first set are the Balanced eartips, which are presumably intended to give the most balanced frequency response. Then there is this rather odd corrugated design which FiiO states that this design was inspired by the streamline vehicles of the early 20th century. It’s more like a lazy afternoon reading a book in the shade. If it’s any consolation to you, the iSine series and LCDi4 by Audeze are open designs with zero isolation.
